What is a uterine Fibroid? They are noncancerous growths of the uterus that often appear during your childbearing years, they are also called myomas.  Fibroids are not associated with an increased risk of uterine cancer and almost never develop into cancer.   What happens if fibroids go untreated? If they are left untreated, fibroids can continue to grow, both in size and number. They are also referred to as tumours and can take over the uterus and the symptoms will become worse.
